In 2023, María José joined The Trust as a volunteer to support Maite Capra with the coordination of the countries under her responsibility. She is a professional with diverse skills and academic backgrounds, holding a Bachelor's degree in Dramatic Arts, a Master's degree in Project Management, and a Technical degree in Organic Agriculture. She has also been a Zumba instructor for 10 years and actively practices all her professions.
She is originally from San José, Costa Rica, and has over 20 years of experience working in the public sector on topics related to cultural management, public policy, and the management of public investment projects with international cooperation. Today, she works as an independent consultant and runs a small business called PlantCare, where she focuses on plants and wellness.
She likes to be called Marijó, believes that self-love is essential for fulfillment and excellent interpersonal relationships, and is also a firm believer in responsible pet adoption—she has three beloved dogs.
